De’Longhi Classic KBE3014-2 Cordless Review

Good looking kettles aren’t exactly a dime a dozen these days, and the last thing you want to do is ruin your nice new kitchen with an ugly hunk of plastic! If that sounds like a familiar problem, then you might not have seen the De’Longhi Classic KBE3014-2 on store shelves!

This is one of the few kettles around which is built with a eye for detail when it comes to design. This is a stylish jug kettle with a classic look and cream finish. It’s certainly eye catching and would look right at home on any kitchen worktop.

The capacity of the jug is 1.7 litres, enough for around 6 or 7 cups, and it has a concealed rapid boil element for quick heating.

The kettle is suitable for both left and right-handed people. It has a 360 degree base, which means that the handle can be swivelled around to point in either direction. The neon power indicator is also visible on both sides of the base (something a lot of kettle manufacturers neglect to do).

Underneath the base are non-slip feet, and storage for any excess power cord that you’re not using.

We found that most kettles were cheapest at Amazon.co.uk, including the De’Longhi Classic which is currently available for 38% off.

Customer Feedback and Reviews

It sounds good then, but what did the customers think? We’ve collected together as many customer comments and reviews as we could, and found that just over 60% of customers would recommend this kettle.

The main concern people had when opting for the De’Longhi Classic was its looks. People were looking for a nice looking kettle that wouldn’t be an eyesore in an otherwise beautiful kitchen! This kettle certainly delivers on that score; it’s elegant and more than easy on the eye. It has a vaguely retro feel about it, whilst also feeling modern and angular; quite cool really!

The body of the kettle is metal, and so is the lid. This meant that it feels sturdy and robust to the touch, and customers noted that they were confident that it was a well-made piece of kit.

People also praised its pouring spout too; it’s well designed and the water flows out of it nice and smoothly. There’s no mess or splashing whilst pouring.

But it wasn’t all plain sailing for this kettle. As you can see, 40% of customers wouldn’t recommend it. Let’s see what they had to say.

There are several complaints which came up time and time again. First of all, many customers complained that its quite loud whilst boiling. Even happy customers confirmed this, so whether this is a worry to you is purely a matter of taste. Some people like quiet kettles, some people don’t mind it being a bit noisy. Not a deal breaker then, but something to be aware of.

Another problem which was commonly complained about, was that the water level is positioned badly, making it hard to see whilst filling the kettle with water. Again, even happy customers confirmed this, so it’s another issue that you’ll need to judge on merit. If you’re the kind of person that uses the water level a lot on your kettle, this will probably annoy you! If you’re not, then it’s not really something you should worry about.

Finally, quite a few people complained that they found the handle a little uncomfortable. Again, this isn’t the biggest problem in the world; we don’t think many people spend enough time holding their kettle for this to be a major concern.

So what’s the verdict?

The De’Longhi KBE3014-2 looks really nice, but as a kettle it’s rather average. It really depends on what you’re looking for. If you want a striking kettle and you’re not bothered about the points we raised above, this and the Morphy Richards Accents are two of the only choices that you have. If you don’t care about looks and you just want a quick and efficient kettle, you might want to look elsewhere.
