Kenwood Chef Titanium KMC010 4.6 Litre Kitchen Machine Review

You’ve probably guessed by now that we’re gadget lovers here at Kitchenables.co.uk! For that reason, we’re pretty excited to be taking a look at the Kenwood Chef Titanium KM010 Food Mixer. At first glance this looks like an ordinary stand mixer, but trust us – it is so much more than that! Read on and find out what the fuss is all about!

OK, so let’s get the standard stuff out of the way first. This machine is indeed a stand mixer, and a powerful one at that. It has a 1400w motor built in, which should certainly pack enough punch to take over from your tired mixing arm!

The mixer has a planetary motion, which is very efficient for mixing. This means that the beater rotates, whilst the socket that it’s plugged into turns in the opposite direction. Using this movement allows the machine to pick up all the mixture from the sides of the bowl and give it a thorough mixing.

The included bowl has a nice big 4.6 litre capacity; enough for a 2.72kg cake, 2.18kg of dough, 12 eggs, and 680g of flour or pastry. Plenty of room for anything you should decide to mix up.

Included for mixing are four high-quality stainless steel attachments. A K Beater, balloon whisk, dough hook and flexi beater.

The K Beater is designed to beat more efficiently, and in less time. It’s perfect for fruit cakes, chocolate cakes, pastry and biscuits.

The whisk is engineered to maximise volume as well as add in a lot of air, whisking up your liquids to a light fluffy texture great for mousses, souffles, meringues and cheesecakes.

The Flexi Beater is a special mixing attachment which uses its rubber edge to scrape the side of the bowl as it goes, in order to ensure all the mixture is well mixed in!

Finally, the dough is hook is, of course, great for any kind of dough, breads and pastries.

The body and bowl of the machine are both metal, and finished in a sleek brushed silver design. The unit looks modern and cool, and should look pretty good in pride of place on any kitchen worktop.

So what makes this particular mixer so special? We were hoping you’d ask that question; let’s get onto the fun stuff!

The machine has four power outlets located at various points on its body, each of which has a different speed. These outlets act as sockets, and into them you can plug a huge variety of attachments and accessories. This means that, armed with the right attachments, the Kenwood Chef Titanium can be the only kitchen gadget you will ever need!

You get two attachments in the box with this model; a food processor attachment and a 1.5 litre glass liquidiser (great for blending up smoothies and soups). Essentially, this means you’re getting three machines in one right out of the box.

If that’s not enough for you, extra attachments can be purchased separately to do every task you could possibly imagine! You can get everything from pasta rolling and meat mincing attachments, to a citrus press, and even an ice cream maker attachment! We’ll be adding a separate page to our blog covering the different accessories that are available, so keep your eye out for that in the near future.

We found that most mixers had the lowest price at Amazon.co.uk, including the Kenwood KMC010 which is currently available for 45% off.

Kenwood KMC010 Customer Feedback and Reviews

So, the Titanium is chock full of features! So far so good, but now its time to take a look at how it performs. This machine has been the best selling mixer around for quite some time, so we’ve been able to collect together hundreds of customer comments. The KMC010 is very popular; over 97% of customers were happy with their purchase. In fact, 96% were over the moon, awarding it 4 or 5 stars.

The overwhelming majority of people were absolutely thrilled, and comments such as “how did I ever manage without this?” were common-place.

For starters, people reported that the machine is well-built, solid and robust. The bulk of the machine is made up of metal, so it’s quite heavy, but this is the kind of gadget that you want to keep out on the kitchen worktop full time anyway. The metal is finished nicely, and the brushed matte finish looks modern and cool.

It’s quite a big machine, but since it can serve so many functions it should save you space in the long run. There’s no need to store a separate blender, food processor, bread maker etc when you’ve got one of these on the worktop.

The mixing attachments are all well made as well. Made of stainless steel, they’re as robust as the main unit.

Customers reported that the quality of the mixing attachments, along with the power of the machine, makes this a fantastic mixer. It handles large amounts of dough with ease, and remains nice and steady on the worktop too. As a dough mixer, it works just great.

Customers raved about what they’ve mixed up using the Titanium. By all accounts, it makes delicious cakes, bread, and pastry. Yorkshire puddings rise to perfection, and scones are light and fluffy. One customer even used it regularly for mashed potatoes!

Despite its power, the included splash guard seems to work really well (even if its the flimsiest of the parts). Customers reported that all the flour you put in the bowl, stays in the bowl; no mess at all.

So it’s robust, looks good, and mixes like a champ! What about the other functions?

The liquidiser that comes in the box turns the machine into a blender, great for whizzing up soups, smoothies and milkshakes. People reported that it works very well, the most popular use being for soups. It can blend up a smooth soup in seconds, but there is a pulse mode too so that you can blend the soup to whatever consistency you choose. There’s plenty of room in the liquidiser for soup for 4 to 6 people.

As with the other bits so far, the liquidiser is very robust and well made. It’s made of heavy-duty glass, so it’s high quality and isn’t going to break in a hurry. There’s a small price to be paid for this though, as it is a little on the heavy side.

Customers reported that the food processor attachment works well too. It comes with blades for chopping, grating, shredding, slicing, and dicing. It has a large feed tube on the top, and makes short work of the chopping tasks that people had thrown at it. Onions are chopped up in a matter of seconds, for example.

The processor attachment is made of plastic, and as such as is the least robust of the parts. It’s medium-sized for a processor, definitely not the biggest in the world. Still, it’s big enough for the use of a small family and works well.

The base has storage for the power cord, a simple but handy addition. One minor complaint, though, is that the power cord itself is rather short. You’ll need place the machine near a power outlet on the worktop.

People liked the ability to add more and more attachments over time (the ice cream maker attachment appeared to be very popular). The good thing is that the attachments are quite reasonably priced compared to other mixers on the market. Don’t forget to check out dedicated Kenwood Chef Attachments page for the best deals.

45% Discount at Amazon.co.uk

Well, we’ve covered a lot of ground here, but to sum it up – people loved the Kenwood KMC010, and it makes time-consuming kitchen tasks quick and painless. It’s well made, extremely versatile, has a nice range of included accessories, and most people said they’d be lost without it now that they’ve got one!
