Andrew James Hand Mixer Review

If you haven’t got the space for a stand mixer, then a handheld one is the way to go. Whilst not as versatile, a hand mixer can still do a great job of mixing if you pick the right one. Today, we’re going to take a look one of the fastest around: the Andrew James Powerful Hand Mixer.

The motor inside this machine is none-too-shabby – a full 300 watts of power which, for a hand mixer, is rather fast! It has 5 speeds (and a turbo function) so that you can start off slowly and gradually ramp up the speed. This means you mixture won’t go flying everywhere when you turn it on!

It comes with quite a decent range of attachments for a hand mixer. In the box come beaters, dough hooks and also a balloon whisk. The beaters and dough hooks are good quality and made of chrome, which is intended to make to them last.

The mixer has been designed with a flat base, which makes it free standing. This means that it can easily be placed on the worktop during use, and it’ll stay nice and steady until you’re ready to use it again.

When you’re finished mixing, simply press the eject button and the attachments will pop out of the machine, saving you from having to pull them out and getting greasy fingers.

The silver and black finish gives the device a modern look, which is definitely a nice change from the usual white shiny plastic that 90% of hand mixers on the market seem to be made from.

We found that most mixers were cheapest at Amazon.co.uk, including the Andrew James Hand Mixer which is currently available for 50% off.

Customer Feedback and Reviews

It’s time to take a look at how well this powerful hand mixer performs in the real world, and for that we’ll have a look at how well liked it is by the people who bought it. This is quite a popular machine – over 95% of customers awarded it top marks of 4 or 5 stars. Let’s take a look at both the upsides, and the downsides.

This isn’t an expensive device, but plenty of customers still pointed out that it’s nicely made. The machine has a robust and solid feel to it, and the attachments are well made too. It’s not too heavy to hold either, especially for the short bursts that you’ll want to use it in.

Almost every customer commented that the machine works really well. People liked the range of speeds. Several noted that indeed the machine makes no mess when you start it up, thanks to being able to start off slow and gradually increase in speed.

People were really happy with the results. The machine clearly manages to mix a lot of air into your mixtures, and people reported delicious results! Light and fluffy cakes, well risen and light Yorkshire puddings, and even fantastic mashed potato were reported!

Whilst some hand blenders struggle on low speeds, the Andrew James model doesn’t at all. Most people were using the low speed for mashing potatoes, and reported great results and no flinching by the motor at all.

Customers also said that the device is nice and easy to wipe clean, and thanks to the silver finish, the plastic isn’t going to become discoloured or stained after use.

One thing to be aware of is that you need to get the attachments in the right holes, otherwise they can get stuck. However, it’s quite easy to distinguish between them and decide which holes they go into. It’s also clearly indicated in the instructions, so you just need to remember to read them the first time you use it (unfortunately, a few people jumped in without reading up)!

Apart from that, very few people had anything negative to say. One minor criticism that came up a couple of times was the shortness of the power cord; you’ll need to make sure you do your mixing near a power socket. However, since a hand mixer isn’t something you’re going to keep out on the worktop full-time, we don’t see this as much of a problem.

Overall, the Andrew James Hand Mixer is a great little gadget. For the price it’s the most powerful hand mixer you’ll find, and it works very well to boot!
