There’s nothing more disappointing than excitedly pouring your mixture into your ice cream maker, then standing there waiting to see it thicken and seeing nothing happen. You do tend to feel a bit dejected pouring your your ice cream out of your ice cream maker instead of scooping it!
The key, of course, is getting everything cold enough. You can increase your chances of success by giving the mixture a bit of a head start. When you’ve finished mixing it together, store in your refrigerator for a couple of hours, so that it’s nice and cold when you pour it into your ice cream machine.
I’ve never failed to get thick, creamy ice cream when I follow this extra step, so it’s well worth doing!
