Customer Feedback and Reviews

Having taken a look a hundreds of customer comments, we found that 86% of people were happy with this machine. 81% of people were so happy that they gave it top marks of 4 or 5 stars.

First of all, the machine is nice and simple to use. If you want your coffee straight away, you simply add water, put your coffee grounds into the filter, and hit the button. If you want to use the timer feature, you’ll need to program in the time that you want your coffee to be ready. Basically, the Cafe Mattino is no harder to use than an ordinary kettle or a digital alarm clock.

People seemed to really like the timer feature, enjoying waking up in the morning to the smell of fresh coffee wafting through the house. It’s a nice little time saver too; one less thing to attend to in the morning certainly can’t be a bad thing!

The filter coffee that the machine makes is good too. People were very happy with it, finding it much better than instant coffee.

It’s quite a fast machine as well. It’ll have 12 cups of coffee ready in about 10 minutes, so it’s really handy to have around if you have guests. People found the keep warm feature useful too, although it won’t keep the liquid boiling hot.

It’s also great that you don’t have to remember to go back and flip the switch to turn it off, the auto shut-off feature will turn it off automatically after 2 hours.

It’s not all plain sailing though, there were a few criticisms that you need to be made aware of.

First of all, the machine needs to be flushed through a number of times when you first get it. People who skipped this step found that the water had a plasticy taste to it. The problem is that some people found that it took quite a few more flush throughs than the manual recommended to get rid of this taste. One customer said that the taste went after 10 flush throughs. Not exactly perfect, but thankfully not a permanent problem.

One thing that well over half of the customers complained about was the size of the open for filling up the tank. It’s positioned at the back, and quite small. This means you’ll need to be quite precise when filling it in order to avoid a mess.

The worst problem, though, is that condensation forms underneath the lid, and then drips down the back of the machine when you open it. Almost everybody complained about this. In my opinion, it’s not exactly a big problem. You’ll simply need to wipe clean each time you open the lid. Since it can hold enough water for 12 cups, you shouldn’t need to do this too often.

The Morphy Richards Cafe Mattino is a pretty good filter coffee maker. If you’re a big coffee drinker, you should find it quite a lot more convenient to use than the kettle, and its coffee is much better than instant.
